Why the Cleanup Matters More Than People Expect

- Fragments fall inside the door cavity and sit on the regulator and the window track.
- Glass left in the door rattles, and can jam or damage the window mechanism.
- Fragments work into seat rails, seat belt mechanisms and carpet, and keep surfacing for weeks.
- A vacuum of the visible carpet is not the same as clearing the door cavity.

Year, make, model and which window is broken. A photograph of the damage helps. The VIN or plate lets us confirm the exact glass.
2. We confirm the correct glass
Side glass varies by body style, by door, and by whether the vehicle uses tempered or laminated glass. We verify before we travel.
3. We come to the vehicle
Home, workplace or job site anywhere in our service area. The car does not need to be driven with an open window.
4. Fit, clean and check
New glass fitted, door cavity and interior cleared of fragments, regulator and window operation checked before we leave.
Insurance, Deductibles and Cash Work
Glass broken in a theft or an act of vandalism is normally a comprehensive matter rather than a collision one. Whether a claim is worth making usually comes down to the deductible against the cost of the glass. We do not push either route. We provide a written quote and the damage detail so the decision is yours to make on real numbers.

My car window was smashed last night. Can you come out today?
Where a vehicle has been left insecure we treat it as a priority. Contact us with the vehicle year, make, model and which window is broken and we will confirm the correct glass and the earliest realistic service window. Same-day service is often possible when the glass is in stock.
Is it safe to drive with a broken side window?
It is legal in most cases but it leaves the vehicle open to weather and to a second break-in. The larger risk is the loose tempered glass. Fragments work their way into the door cavity, the seat rails and the seat belt mechanism, and they continue to surface for weeks if they are not removed properly.
Do you clean up the broken glass?
Yes. Tempered side and quarter glass shatters into thousands of small cubes that spread through the door, the carpet, the seat tracks and the boot. We vacuum the door cavity, the sill, the seats and the floor as part of the replacement. Glass left in the door will rattle and can jam the window regulator.
Will my insurance cover a break-in window?
Broken glass from theft or vandalism is usually handled under comprehensive cover rather than collision, and in many policies the deductible is what decides whether a claim is worthwhile. Do I need a police report first?
Not for the glass work. If you intend to claim on insurance, or if items were taken from the vehicle, a police report is usually required by the insurer. Getting the window replaced does not prevent you filing a report afterwards.
Can you replace the window where the car is parked?
Yes. This is mobile work. We can attend a home address, a workplace car park, a street parking space or a job site, provided there is safe access to the vehicle and enough room to open the door fully.
What if the window regulator was damaged too?
Forced entry frequently bends the regulator or breaks the glass clamp. We check the regulator operation before refitting. If it has been damaged we will tell you before proceeding rather than fitting new glass into a mechanism that will fail.
The window is broken but the glass is still in one piece. Is that different?
Yes. Laminated side glass, which is increasingly common on newer vehicles, cracks rather than shatters. It stays in the frame and looks less dramatic, but it still needs replacing and the part is different from tempered glass. Tell us the year, make and model so we identify the correct type.
